Graphite Electrode Connections

This picture shows the graphite electrode exiting the bath. The framework you can see is used to adjust the electrode position in the bath. The graphite rod is pushed inwards using screw adjusters insulated from the graphite with our own design of insulted bearing blocks, complete with thrust races.

The graphite electrodes are generally consumed at about 2-3 inches per year, and have screw section machined onto each end so that they can be extended when they get close to the end of there adjustment, thus saving the minimum graphite rod length being discarded.
