Rotary Hearth Furnace Detail

Rotary Pre-Heater for Forging Process

Two of these furnaces were supplied to a company wishing to pre-heat and the re-heat component during stages of a forging process.

The furnace is electrically heated via tape elements suspended from the roof of the furnace, and the temperature is controlled by Eurotherm instrumentation. The furnace body can be lifted, using any over-head device, and latches in place on the four corner posts. This allows for easy access to the hearth for inspections and maintenance.

The first of the two furnaces acts as a pre-heat oven, heating the components from cold two around 8500c. At this point the components were removed from this furnace and were forged into shape. Once this forging process was complete the component was placed into the second furnace for re-heating before being quenched in a custom built quench tank, also supplied by us.

From here the components went into a batch furnace for tempering, which again, HIE supplied built for the purpose.
